The kiln
We fire once a week, and not always.
Oct 18
Thursday is the usual day. It is not a promise. If the work is not dry, or the glaze tests are still guessing, the kiln stays cold.
Firing on a schedule makes more pots. It also makes more seconds. We would rather open the door on Saturday and keep most of what comes out.
If you are waiting on a piece, that is why the note says “next firing” instead of a date. The clay decides.
