Hands shaping clay on the wheel

The studio

A wheel by the north window.

Ada throws in the morning, when the light is flat and honest. Afternoons are for trimming, handles, and the slow work of mixing glaze from recipes written on the wall in pencil.

The kiln is a brick box in the corner. It holds about forty pieces if we are careful and fewer if someone made a platter. We like the platters, so we are often careful and still short on space.

Visit

The door is open the day after a firing, usually Friday. No appointment for looking. Appointments if you want something made for a table you already own.

Ship

Pieces leave on Mondays, wrapped in newsprint and a second box. We do not ship anything with a fresh crack. We will tell you if we are unsure.

Commission

A set of eight is the largest we take. Give us the use — soup, flowers, bread — not a Pinterest board. Six to eight weeks.
